Northeast football falls short of championship appearance with playoff loss in Toombs Co.

Northeast High School football lost to Toombs County High School 24-6 on Friday night in the third round of the GHSA Class A Division 1 state playoffs.

The game took place on the road for the Northeast Raiders, on Jacky Jones Field at Boosters Stadium in Lyons, around an hour and a half from Macon.

The two teams last played against one another in the 2024 Class A Division 1 state championship in December, where Toombs County claimed the state title in a 38-18 victory over Northeast.

The Northeast Raiders end their season with a 10-3 record, including an undefeated 6-0 record when playing at home, according to results from Maxpreps. The Toombs County Bulldogs, who are now 12-1, will advance to the fourth round of playoffs and will travel next week to play Heard County.
