All the work is done, and the trucks are gone.

The brand new turf at McConnell-Talbert is ready for football.

The first regular-season game isn’t until Aug. 27 when Houston County and Veterans play, but Rutland and Warner Robins will break it in Thursday night when the Demons host the Hurricanes in a scrimmage at 7 p.m.

It’s a big week for scrimmages in the state.

Bradwell Institute will instead visit Toombs County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday because of field issues.

Joining Warner Robins and Rutland on Thursday are Wheeler County at East Laurens.

Friday offers a more full selection, according to Georgia High School Football Daily and other sources. There are also scrimmages next week.
