This Macon running back dominated in his season opener, wins player of the week vote

We asked and you answered - Kadiphius (KD) Iverson of Westside High School in Macon has won The Telegraph’s Football Player of the Week poll for Week 1.

Iverson topped our poll with 52% of the 4,397 votes.

The senior running back dominated in his season opener against the Howard Huskies. The Seminoles took the win in overtime 26-20.

Iverson showed up with an impressive 34 carries for 205 yards rushing and four rushing touchdowns. He also had two catches for 59 yards and threw a completion on a two-point conversion.

“Kadiphius is one (of), if not the top, running back in the city,” said Dr. Candice Roberson, Westside High School athletic director. “Last week against Howard KD was unstoppable.”

On Friday, the Westside Seminoles were scheduled to travel to Naples, Florida, to take on First Baptist Academy.

The Telegraph will have another poll for Week 2 of the high school football season.
