Middle GA high school suspends football activities due to positive COVID-19 test

Perry High School has suspended all varsity football activities after a player tested positive for COVID-19, according to a release from the Houston County School District.

The suspension will last until Sept. 26. The Panthers are coming off a pair of losses in their first two games against Houston County and the most recent game to Harris County on Sept. 11. The suspension has led to the cancellation of an away game on Friday, Sept. 18, against Hampton and a home game against Veterans on Sept. 25.

The impacted area will be deep cleaned and disinfected before it is used again.

“The safety of students and employees is the district’s number one priority,” the release said. “The District continues to work closely with the local health department, which will investigate and conduct contact tracing. In accordance with federal law, information will not be disclosed that would lead to the identification of individuals.
