GHSA announces its first-ever dunk and 3-point contests. Here are the details.

High school dunkers and three-point shooters will converge at the Macon Coliseum for a pair of contests on March 6-7 to determine who is the best.

The GHSA announced Friday that it will host the first-ever three-point shooting for girls and dunk contest for boys in a single classification competition with one participant per school for each. The players will be competing for gold, bronze and silver medals.

The first round of the slam dunk contest will take place from Jan. 30 through Feb. 2. Entrants will send in videos that will then be posted on social media from Feb. 3-9. The top 15 will move to the second round.

Semifinalists will have the chance to submit a second video from Feb. 16-23 with the second round of voting taking place Feb. 25 through March 1.

The top three will advance to the final on March 7 between the AAAAAA boys championship game and the AAAAAAA girls championship game. No special props or gimmicks can be used.

The three-point contest will host eight quarterfinals and will be held at different locations throughout the state. Players can sign up at locations that will be announced Jan. 17.

Shooters will have one minute to shoot from four different racks on the court beyond the 3-point line. Each rack will have six balls that will each count for one point except for the final ball in each rack is worth three points.

The top four from each quarterfinal site will move on to the semifinals which will be held at four different locations in the state. The top four from the semifinals will advance to the finals on March 6 after the AAASP Wheelchair championship.
