Three Middle Georgia teams punch their tickets to the semifinals

Here is a look at the scores and highlights from around Middle Georgia in the third round of the GHSA state football playoffs.

Jones County 49, Griffin 14

The Jones County Greyhounds scored 42 unanswered in the second half to stun Griffin after falling behind 14-7 at halftime. The game turned on the opening kick of the second half as wide receiver Maleek Wooten returned it for a touchdown to tie the game at 14.

The Greyhounds then forced three turnovers and recovered an onside kick to help power the team to a blowout victory.

Jones County will be at home next week to take on Buford.

Dublin 35, Hapeville 12

The Dublin Fighting Irish fell behind 6-0 in the first quarter. From there it was all Dublin as it took as 21-12 lead into the half. The Fighting Irish will take on Thomasville next week on the road. Thomasville knocked off Rabun County 38-24 to get into the semifinals.

Warner Robins 49, Clarke Central 14

Warner Robins continued its dominance in the playoffs. The Demons led 21-0 in the first quarter and never let Clarke Central gain its footing. Warner Robins will be at home again next week to play Starrs Mill. The Demons are looking to get back to the state-title game for the third straight year.
