There were two different games played Monday at Windsor in the GISA Class 2A baseball semifinals.

After winning Game 1 last week, the Knights had a chance to eliminate Terrell Academy on Monday, but the Knights lost the first game 8-6 in a back-and-forth contest. Then the Eagles made the necessary defensive adjustments in the deciding game, coming out with a 2-0 win.

Three who mattered

Tyler Christian: Scored twice in game two.

Cooper Daniel: Scored twice in game two.

Turning point

In the fifth inning of the third game, Windsor committed an error and allowed Terrell Academy to tie the game at 6.

Observations

Eagles’ defensive adjustment: The Eagles’ defense held the Knights to three hits in the deciding game.

Errors proved costly: Following the pivotal error in the fifth, another Knights error allowed the Eagles to take the lead.

They said it

Windsor head coach William Beatty on difference in defensive strategy between Games 2 and 3: “Well, you know (in Monday’s) first game, I felt like we jumped on them, and they’d come back, and we go ahead, and they come back. But it the kind of thing where we lost our focus for one inning. We had three errors in one inning, and they took the lead, and that kind of sealed the fate in that game, but I felt like we were going to be good in Game 3 because we had a guy throwing I knew was going to do a great job on the mound, and he did. But we just didn’t hit. We hit all season long. That’s probably been our big thing besides our starting pitching is our hitting, and we just didn’t get any hits, and so we kind of just left it out there.”
