Gatewood, FPD win GISA target shooting titles
Several Middle Georgia individuals and teams claimed honors Saturday at the GISA clay target shooting meet Saturday in Savannah.
Gatewood claimed the interscholastic title, finishing with an overall score of 838. Westwood finished second at 808, while Windsor was third at 801.
Windsor’s Alexis Eidson was the top individual in the interscholastic division, shooting a 96 in skeet, a 95 in sporting and a 98 in trap for a total of 289, the highest score posted by any shooter in either division. Gatewood’s Aaron Copelan was second at 283, while Bulloch’s Colin Davis was third at 279. Gatewood’s Nash Sinclair and Baylor Garland finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
FPD won the general division, posting a score of 812. Woodward Academy finished second at 784, followed by John Hancock at 781. Stratford was fourth at 719.
FPD’s Tate Skipper was the top individual in the general division, shooting 97 in skeet, 94 in sporting and 95 in trap for a 286 total. John Hancock’s Tyler Coleman was second at 275, while Woodward Academy’s Turner Kurzweg was third at 270. FPD’s Chet Thompson and Bryce Floyd finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Teams competing in the general division compete in other associations, such as the GHSA, in other sports.
