Four Middle Georgia teams playing for GISA, GICAA softball titles
It’s championship weekend for GISA and GICAA softball teams, and four Middle Georgia teams are competing for titles.
In the GISA, the Class 2A championship pits Windsor against Brentwood for the second straight season. Windsor won last year’s title, while Brentwood (15-9) edged Windsor for this season’s Region 4-2A title.
Meanwhile, in Class 3A, John Milledge (21-7) takes on defending champion Pinewood Christian.
Both series will take place at Valdosta State. The first two games of the 3A final are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., while the first two games of the 2A final are set for 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
CFCA looks to repeat as the GICAA fall league champion when it travels to David Emanuel.
The Lancers (23-7) finished second to David Emanuel in the East Division, with CFCA defeating Fullington and Creekside Christian to advance to the championship. Freshman Josie Spradley has emerged as the Lancers’ starting pitcher, with seniors Marilynn NeSmith (batting .551 with nine doubles, 48 runs scored and 34 RBI), Delana Smith, Lauren Holmes and Hannah Duncan making their third championship series appearance.
The best-of-three series is set to start at 11 a.m.
