Houston County at Warner Robins, Thursday

Former Houston County offensive coordinator Mike Chastain and his Demons have had a week off to prepare for the top-ranked team in GHSA Class 6A.

Ware County at Northside

They’ve only played four times, all since 2007, and all in the playoffs, until this meeting, which will very much feel like a playoff game. Like the first-round game a year ago, won 16-7 by Ware County at McConnell-Talbert.

Woodland at Jones County

Both are 1-0 in Region 4-5A. The Wolfpack (3-1) averaged 38 points a game, the Greyhounds (2-1) 35. The Wolfpack are off consecutive 7-3 seasons that didn’t involve a playoff trip. Both teams throw it around.

Mary Persons at Peach County

The sounds of pads popping will carry throughout the farmland around Anderson Stadium with two teams that were sharp on Friday. Two quality programs go at it for the 13th time, the first since 2011.

West Laurens at South Effingham

Fresh off a big win over Vidalia, the Raiders have a good chance for a win over a Class 5A team with a trip to Warner Robins on deck.

Veterans at Howard (Ed DeFore Sports Complex)

A pair of 1-3 teams meet in Barney Hester’s 500th game as a high school football head coach.

Aquinas at Mount de Sales

Coming off a comfortable win over Social Circle, Mount de Sales takes on last year’s GHSA Class 1A private runner-up, a team hit hard by graduation and transfers.

FPD at Warren County

A pair of 3-0 teams meet in Warrenton in a Region 7-1A regular-season crossover game.
