The azaleas are blooming, the gates are open and golf’s most prestigious major championship is back.
The Masters is again in its usual April time slot. Here are a few things to know about the 2022 Masters, including a link to the latest Masters leaderboard:
TV, live stream coverage today: How to watch
Coverage of the Masters will be broadcast on CBS on Saturday (3-7) and Sunday (2-7).
Viewers can also stream the tournament on ESPN Plus, Paramount Plus and through the Masters’ official website in the United States.
What is The Masters? Is it every year?
The Masters is the first major tournament on pro golf’s annual calendar. This year marks the 86th edition of .
The tournament was first played in 1934 and has largely been played during the first week of April since 1940. It was not played in 1943, 1944 and 1945 due to the outbreak of World War II.
The Masters winner, among other perks, receives the ceremonial green jacket to celebrate their victory. They are also given a membership to Augusta National and a lifetime invitation into the tournament should they continue to play professionally.

Scottie Scheffler (+1500) enters the week as the world’s No. 1 golfer and the hottest player on the PGA Tour over the last eight weeks.
Scheffler has won three of his last five starts, including victories at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play. He’s recorded six top 10s since November and he hasn’t missed a cut since Shriners Children’s Open in October.
Spaniard John Rahm is the current betting favorite to win the 2022 Masters at +1200 odds. He’s followed by Justin Thomas (+1300), Cameron Smith (+1500), Jordan Spieth (+1900), Brooks Koepka (+1900), Rory McIlroy (+1900) and Viktor Hovland (+1900).
Columbia native and Coastal Carolina product Dustin Johnson is tied for the third-best odds to win at +1500 with Scheffler and Smith.
Is Phil Mickelson in the Masters?
Absentees: Phil Mickelson is the most prominent exclusion from this year’s field after his rather public flirtations with the Saudi Arabian-backed golf league. Past major championship winners Jason Day, Martin Kaymer and Henrik Stenson failed to qualify for the 2022 Masters. Ian Poulter and Rickie Fowler also won’t play this week after watching their rankings dip drastically.
South Carolina ties: The Palmetto State will have a handful of representatives this week at Augusta. Johnson is the highest-rated of the bunch at No. 8 in the world. Kevin Kisner (Aiken) and Lucas Glover (Greenville) will also be in the field. Glover played his college golf at Clemson.
