Georgia CB Juwuan Briscoe arrested on traffic charges
Cornerback Juwuan Briscoe was arrested Saturday night on two traffic-related offenses, according to the Athens-Clarke County jail logs.
Briscoe was charged with not having a license and failing to wear a seatbelt. Both charges are misdemeanor and constituted a $500 bail for each. Briscoe was booked at 9:07 p.m. Saturday and was released 10:11 p.m. He was arrested by University of Georgia police.
Following spring practice, Briscoe earned one of Georgia's Most Improved Player awards. He played with the first-team defense at Georgia's annual G-Day spring game. It's unknown if Briscoe will face any disciplinary action as head coach Kirby Smart has yet to comment or release a statement.
Briscoe is the fifth Georgia player to be arrested since Smart was hired by Georgia. Defensive lineman Chauncey Rivers (possession of marijuana) was arrested in December and defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter (underage possession of alcohol) was arrested in March.
Freshmen Julian Rochester and Chad Clay were arrested earlier in April on felony possession of a weapon, a BB gun, in a school and criminal damage to property.
