Georgia scores well in NCAA's yearly APR calculation
Georgia's athletic teams fared well when it came to the NCAA's mandated academic progress rate.
Each team recorded an NCAA score between 961 and 1,000, which was plenty of distance from the penalty threshold number of 930. Teams that score below 930 are subjected to NCAA penalties, which can include a postseason ban and a reduction in scholarships.
This is the 10th year the NCAA has calculated its APR, which measures the eligibility, retention and graduation of a college athletic team based on a formula. Perfect 1,000 scores were recorded by the men's and women's cross-country teams, and the women's swimming and diving team.
Georgia's football team scored an academic progress rate of 961, which placed it ninth in the SEC. Vanderbilt had the best APR at 990 and LSU totaled the worst at 941.
The Georgia men's basketball team placed fourth in the SEC with a 985 APR, with Kentucky and Florida tying for the best at a perfect 1,000. Missouri had the worst APR of every SEC men's basketball team at 946.
Here is each of the Georgia APR scores for each sport:
