Brice Ramsey will finish his career where it began.

Ramsey will return to Georgia for his fifth and final year of college eligibility, The Telegraph has confirmed. Ramsey will jump back into the quarterback competition for a backup role.

The news was first reported by Dawgs247.

Earlier this week, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said he has been recruiting Ramsey to stick around on the football team. Ramsey initially announced his intention to transfer before spring practice began.

“We’ve done a good job of actively talking to him, keeping communication, we had him out at practice,” Smart said. “It’s really a great thing to graduate from Georgia, be a part of a great program. And hey, we’ve got two quarterbacks. He’s a guy who can come in and compete first, second or third. He has great experience.”

With Ramsey, Georgia will now have three quarterbacks on scholarship for the 2017 season. Jacob Eason started 12 games in 2016 and figures to be Georgia's starter once again. Freshman Jake Fromm took all of the second-string reps during the spring.

Ramsey came to Georgia as a heralded four-star recruit in 2013 out of Camden County. After redshirting his freshman season, Ramsey backed up both Hutson Mason and Lambert in consecutive seasons.

Ramsey was recruited to Georgia by former offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, who left to take the head coaching job at Colorado State in 2015. As a quarterback, Ramsey has totaled 582 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions.

In addition to serving as a backup quarterback at Georgia, Ramsey has stepped in as a punter at times the past two seasons. For his career, Ramsey has totaled a punting average of 38.7 yards. During the spring, Ramsey served as a student-assistant during practices.
