Frazier to begin professional basketball career overseas
J.J. Frazier is heading overseas to begin his professional basketball career.
In late June, Frazier signed a contract with JDA Dijon Basket, a French basketball franchise in the LNB Pro A league, according to his agent Zachary Charles.
Frazier is one of four guards on the team’s 2017-18 roster for the time being.
Frazier spent the previous four years at Georgia, which included his two final seasons as a starting guard. Frazier averaged a career-best 18.8 points per game last season, which included going for an average of 25.5 points over his final 10 games.
Prior to the NBA draft, Frazier met with a number of teams. Frazier conducted workouts with the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks, Minneosta Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors.
Frazier, however, did not hear his name called by the end of the draft’s 60 picks.
Frazier came out of Georgia as a lightly-recruited prospect who went on to finish seventh in career scoring with 1,628 total points. In a previous interview, Frazier said he is determined to once again prove doubters wrong.
“It’s something that I feel like nobody really thought I could possibly do five or six years ago, especially coming out of high school,” Frazier said. “I’ve had to defy odds my whole life. This is another thing I’ve been enjoying, trying to prove other people wrong, as well.”
