Greg McGarity's first hire after taking over as Georgia's athletics director is on her way out.

Lizzy Stemke, Georgia's volleyball head coach over the past six seasons, has been relieved of her duties in what is officially being called a resignation.

Stemke compiled a 79-105 overall record, which included going 32-80 in SEC play.

McGarity became Georgia's athletics director in 2010 and fired Joel McCartney, the previous volleyball coach. He hired Stemke, who was previously an assistant at Nebraska.

While McGarity has made head coaching changes in football, gymnastics, baseball, women's soccer, track and field and women's golf, this is the first time he's had to do so with someone he hired.

McGarity and the athletics department are set to begin a national search for a new volleyball coach.
