Georgia, Georgia Tech set for first baseball meeting of season

Georgia's baseball team continues a 22-game stretch against ranked opponents Tuesday by going to Georgia Tech.

The game at Russ Chandler Stadium is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.

Georgia (17-16) will start junior left-hander Andrew Gist (2-1, 3.45 ERA) for his fourth start this season. Georgia Tech (23-8) will start right-hander Cole Pitts (3-1, 5.59 ERA).

Dating back to 1950, Georgia leads the all-time series with Georgia Tech 116-101. Georgia is 2-3 against Georgia Tech under head coach Scott Stricklin, who played collegiately at Kent State under Danny Hall, who is the current Georgia Tech head coach.

Last season, the Tech game at Russ Chandler Stadium was rained out while the Foley Field contest ended in a 13-6 win for the visitors. Georgia posted a combined one-hit shutout of Georgia Tech in the game at Turner Field, winning 6-0 to split the season series.

The two teams will meet April 26 in Athens at May 17 at Turner Field.
