Nick Chubb records double-digit carries in scrimmage, Malcolm Mitchell stands out
Georgia running back Nick Chubb got an estimated 13 carries during Saturday’s second scrimmage of the preseason.
Georgia head coach Mark Richt said Chubb did a “nice job” with his workload. Richt said that running backs Sony Michel, Keith Marshall and Brendan Douglas all got some solid reps. He said A.J. Turman mostly handled reps with the third team.
“All did a good job,” Richt said.
Richt said it was hard to recall which tight ends and receivers stood out but that senior Malcolm Mitchell made a couple of nice plays.
Once again, Richt lamented his second-team offensive line, saying it’s still a work in progress. In the first scrimmage last week, outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter had his way with the second-team offensive line. On Saturday, it was outside linebacker Davin Bellamy that made his presence felt against the second-team line.
To get a better feel as to how the scrimmage played out, Richt said he'll spend time going over the tape.
“It’s so many plays, so many situations, you really have to go back and watch the film to catch it all,” Richt said.
