Look: Georgia’s new football uniforms for 2020 are built to honor the past
Georgia football will sport a new uniform once the season kicks off on Sept. 26.
As a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Bulldogs’ 1980 national championship run, the team released a throwback style of uniforms. There have been two variations released — white jersey with red pants and a black jersey with silver pants.
The white uniforms feature a red-and-black striped feature on the sleeve, with block-style numbering. The black uniforms are a tribute to when Georgia first wore its alternate uniforms in 2007.
According to a team spokesperson, the newly-released uniforms are alternate uniforms. The Bulldogs will still wear their primary red and white uniforms during a 10-game 2020 season.
The Bulldogs play on the road Arkansas to start the year. The team announced Friday that Georgia will wear the white throwbacks for the opener.
Each of the uniforms will have a “Together” and “Equality” patch with the state of Georgia outlined and a “Power G” logo in the middle.
The black uniform, following along with the program’s modern branding, features the dog spikes around the collar and the newer Bulldog logo on the sleeves.
Here are the team’s video and photos of the reveal.
