Former UGA star DeAndre Baker charged with 4 counts of armed robbery with a firearm
Former University of Georgia defensive back DeAndre Baker has been formally charged with four counts of robbery with a firearm, the New York Daily News reported on Friday.
Baker, a first-round selection by the New York Giants in the 2019 draft, and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar were arrested in May for allegedly robbing people at a party at gunpoint in South Florida, multiple outlets reported.
They were accused of stealing $12,400 in cash and $61,100 worth of watches, the Miramar Police Department report said, according to the Red & Black.
Dunbar will not face charges due to insufficient evidence, but Baker faces upwards of 10 years to life in state prison for each count.
Baker made a name for himself during his four-year tenure at Georgia by only allowing one touchdown. He won the Jim Thorpe Award in 2018 and was named a 2018 All-American. Baker was also named one of the best defensive back prospects in the 2019 NFL Draft.
