Georgia lands running back commitment for 2021 recruiting class
Running back Lovasea Carroll of Warrenton, Georgia and IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida made an important recruiting announcement Thursday: He’s committed to the home-state Georgia Bulldogs.
Carroll is a former South Carolina Gamecocks commitment and acknowledged on social media that he still plans to take all five of his official visits.
In a post on Twitter making his latest choice for Georgia, Carroll said: “To all the schools that recruited me, it was a blessing to see my hard work pay off. I still will be taking all five official visits for a final decision, but as of now I know where I want to continue my football career. And what better place to do it than your city.”
Carroll is the Bulldogs’ sixth commitment for the class and second in two days. Four-star offensive lineman Micah Morris (Kingsland, Georgia) announced a pledge for the Bulldogs on Wednesday.
The Georgia 2021 recruiting class was ranked second in the SEC and eight nationally as of Thursday afternoon, according to the 247Sports Composite that factors in all networks.
Carroll is a four-star prospect as well. He rushed for over 1,400 yards as a sophomore. A shoulder injury last season limited his playing time and he rushed for 570 yards and 8 touchdowns. He did average 10 yards per carry.
On Jan. 17 he named his top five as South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Auburn and Ohio State. But he dropped the Buckeyes from his list and replaced them with Tennessee.
He had planned an August announcement for his commitment but went ahead Thursday and announced for the Bulldogs.
Carroll committed to South Carolina on April 28 of last year but backed off that pledge Sept. 1. He recently said the Florida Gators were a slight favorite.
