Get hyped for the SEC Championship with these fan-made UGA videos inspired by Marvel
The storyline of this season, and the last three seasons of Georgia football, could be written like a movie script.
A devastating loss. A series of highlight plays. A memorable soundbite. An opportunity to hoist the championship trophy.
Those first three boxes have been checked off, and Georgia awaits the fourth in Saturday’s SEC Championship game (4 p.m., CBS) against No. 2 LSU.
Ahead of the kickoff, two Georgia fans created hype videos setting that script into action.
The first is made by Mitchell Smeak and set to the tune of the box office-busting movie “Avengers: Endgame,” which capped off another phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He highlights the midseason loss to South Carolina and how it evolved into the Bulldogs defying the odds — or at least the opinions of television analysts.
By Wednesday morning, the video had nearly 300,000 views on Twitter, 3,800 retweets and 8,000 likes.
This two-minute video takes fans on an exhilarating ride through the 11-1 season and lays out what comes next.
Smeak’s video was followed by work of Quentin VanHoozer, a UGA student who concentrates in video production.
He laid out the scene for both Georgia and LSU ahead of Saturday’s game to the voice narration of another Avengers movie, “Infinity War.” This video used the final play of the 2018 National Championship loss to Alabama as the dreaded frame of defeat.
VanHoozer shared the video on Twitter Monday and by Wednesday morning it had garnered nearly 8,000 views, 144 retweets and 380 likes.
Kickoff is still three days away, but Georgia fans can feel closer to the action with these hype videos.
