Mercer women's basketball collects 1,700 books for young readers

The Mercer women's basketball team has collected 1,727 books for distribution to schools and area grade-school students.

Those books will be distributed Friday, beginning with school groups that will visit that morning. The team will then host an open distribution for pre-K through fifth-grade students from 5-7 p.m. at Hawkins Arena.

Leftover books will be given to area schools.
