Georgia College remains in top 10

The Georgia College women's basketball team maintained a top-10 slot in the region, sliding down one spot in the latest D2SIDA women's basketball Division II Southeast Region media poll.

The Bobcats, on an eight-game winning streak since dropping their first game of the season to Emmanuel College, were tied for the fifth spot in the last edition of the poll with Peach Belt Conference foe Armstrong State. Both teams were idle last week but the Bobcats lost a vote, breaking the tie in favor of the Pirates and dropping Georgia College to sixth.

Also joining the Bobcats and Pirates from the Peach Belt: second-ranked Francis Marion, fourth-ranked Columbus State, seventh-ranked Clayton State, ninth-ranked Georgia Southwestern State, and, No. 10 North Georgia.

The sixth-ranked Bobcats begin conference play Wednesday against USC Aiken. Tipoff is 10:30 a.m. for the women, with the men to follow.

It will be Baldwin County Schools Day at the Centennial Center. The Bobcats host the Baldwin County School District and its public school students, third to eighth grade, for a field trip to watch the doubleheader.
