Mercer roundup: Bears get wins in volleyball, men’s soccer
Mercer’s volleyball team won its second Southern Conference match in as many days with a 3-1 win over Wofford on Saturday to stay unbeaten at home.
Mercer won a tight opener 25-23 before the Terriers returned the favor with a 25-23 win in the second to even the match at 1-1.
Mercer won the third set 25-21 and escaped the final set 26-24.
Sophomore Morgan MacGilvary recorded her fourth double-double performance of the season. The Plano, Texas native posted a team-high 17 kills and added 13 digs.
Late goal lifts Mercer past ETSU
Will Bagrou scored in the 77th minute to give Mercer a 1-0 win Saturday over East Tennessee State in Southern Conference men’s soccer.
Bagrou scored after the Bucs’ goalie corralled a cross, and Conner Antley challenged the keeper, causing him to drop the ball.
Antley got the ball to Bagrou, who then made sure it found its way to the back of the net. Mercer held onto its lead for the final 13 minutes.
Mercer improved to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play while ETSU fell to 44-2 and 1-2-1.
