Mercer’s Maggie Cropp receives SoCon student-athlete honor

Mercer goalkeeper Maggie Cropp has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

Cropp recorded her first two shutouts of the season in scoreless draws against Tennessee Tech and Gardner-Webb this past weekend. The senior from Morgan Hill, California, faced 23 shots in the two matches, making 11 saves. She was named conference’s women’s soccer player of the week Tuesday for her efforts.

She also leads the conference in save percentage and goals against with a .931 save percentage and a 0.39 goals-against average. Now in her second year in the Southern Conference, Cropp has posted a 0.74 GAA during Mercer’s time in the conference, good for a tie with career record-holder Alyssa Whitehead of Samford (2008-11).

Cropp has a 3.95 grade point average as a sociology major with minors in business and criminal justice.
