Mercer announces basketball tipoff event

The Mercer men’s and women’s basketball programs will host the annual Mercer Basketball Tipoff Event on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Hawkins Arena.

The event, which runs from 6-8 p.m., will cost $20 for adults, $10 for kids under 12, and is free for children five and under. Both teams will be on hand, enjoying food and competing with attendees in basketball-related challenges.

Fans and businesses also have the opportunity to be a sponsor for the event, which includes a physical sign on the court, a digital sign on the scoreboard and four tickets to the event. The sponsorship package costs $200.

According to a news release from the university, attendees will compete with players and staff members for prizes while celebrating the start of the basketball season. Attendees can also win free raffle prizes, have their face painted by Mercer cheerleaders and get a picture with Mercer’s mascot, Toby.

Tickets can be purchased by calling men’s basketball director of operations Jonathan Howard at 301-5211 or women’s basketball Director of Operations Seth Ralston at 301-2059. Walkup tickets will also be for sale at the event.
