Mercer baseball starts 2020 season with familiar face on the mound, and NCAA hopes
Mercer baseball will begin its 2020 season on Friday as they host Maryland-Eastern Shore. The first pitch is set for 4 p.m. at OrthoGeorgia Park. Houston County’s Tanner Hall will take the mound for the Bears in the series opener.
The Bears are looking to get back to the NCAA postseason after going on a run in the conference tournament last season when they were crowned Southern Conference champions.
At the game Friday, the Bears will unveil the new banner for the conference title. There are also plans for giveaways for both Mercer students and season ticket holders. The first 300 Mercer students will receive a baseball T-shirt and free pizza. Season ticket holders can enter for a chance to win a T-shirt jersey.
The 2020 season will feature matchups against Florida State, Georgia Tech and West Virginia. The Bears went 35-29 last season and lost in the Athens regional to UGA and FAU.
