Mercer basketball teams to host double header after inclement weather forces schedule change
Mercer basketball will hold a double header on Saturday due to a schedule change.
The Mercer women’s basketball game against Charlotte has been moved from its original Sunday tip-off.
The game will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. due to inclement weather in the Charlotte area expected on Sunday, according to a press release. The Bears are coming off of a one point loss to Florida State on Wednesday and are 4-5 on the season.
Charlotte is 5-2 on the season including a double-digit loss to Wake Forest in its last game out.
The team is also running a promotion for Toys for Tots. Fans can donate a toy and in return receive a free ticket to the game. Donations will start at 12 p.m. at the ticket office located outside of Hawkins Arena inside the University Center.
The women’s game will be followed by the Mercer men’s basketball game against Georgia Southern at 4 p.m. The men’s team are back at home after losing to Florida Atlantic on the road on Wednesday.
The Bears are 4-5 on the season and have dropped two straight for the first time this season. The Bears are 2-1 this season against in-state teams with the lone loss coming against Georgia State by a score of 62-60.
Georgia Southern has dropped two games in row including a 100-70 loss to Arizona in its last game out after starting the season undefeated at 5-0.
