Porter finding leaders with Wildcats
With the season opener coming up Sept. 4 at Miles, first-year Fort Valley State football head coach Kevin Porter said he is seeing some leaders emerge on his team.
“Everything’s going pretty good,” Porter said. “It’s a process, obviously, but we’re getting the kids to buy in, and they look good right now.”
Porter said quarterback Otis Brown has played well and the offensive line is beginning to jell. On defense, he pointed Karontae Donaldson, Brian Walker and Kentroun James in the secondary.
“Those secondary guys have played a lot of football for us,” said Porter, who also coaches the secondary. “They’re in a funny position because their position coach is also the head coach so they’re held to a little bit higher standard.”
