College roundup: Georgia College game canceled; Middle Georgia splits tight doubleheader

The final game of the weekend series between Georgia College and Rollins was cancelled Saturday because of rain and lightning.

The Bobcats won the first two games, 10-6 on Thursday and 16-2 on Friday.

Georgia College hosts Newberry on Tuesday.

Middle Georgia State splits doubleheader

Middle Georgia State recovered from a tough 1-0 first-game loss to beat Auburn-Montgomery 7-6 in the second game of their Southern States Athletic Conference baseball game Saturday.

The Knights are 26-10 overall and 7-5 in conference play while the War Hawks are 26-8 and 10-2.

Freshman pitcher Witt Campbell, from Crisp County, surrendered a first-inning run, but blanked the War Hawks the rest of the way. But the Knights couldn't put anything together on offense.

The Knights scored two runs in the fourth and fifth innings of the second game for a 7-3 lead, and held on as Auburn-Montgomery cut it to 7-6 with runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

Evan Till got the save and Cole Reynolds the win in the nightcap.
