Georgia College splits with Clayton State

Down by 18 points in the first half, Georgia College got a buzzer-beating game-winner from Terrell Harris to nip Clayton State 77-75 Wednesday in Peach Belt men's basketball.

Georgia College improved to 12-4 overall and 5-2 in the Peach Belt, while Clayton State fell to 8-6 and 3-4.

Harris netted 28 points in the ballgame, but none more important than the final two.

Teammate Rio McMillian got a rebound with 12 seconds left and passed to Harris. He drove to the free-throw line, spun and lost the handle on his dribble. After tracking the ball down, he then knocked down a fadeaway jumper with a hand in his face for the game-winner.

The senior guard exploded for 20 points in the second half, finishing with six boards and five assists as well.

Georgia College hosts Armstrong Atlantic at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Comeback falls short for Georgia College women

Georgia College got behind early, got a late lead but couldn't hold on in losing 52-48 Wednesday to Clayton State in Peach Belt women's basketball team.

Georgia College fell to 13-3 and 5-2, while Clayton State improved to 13-1 and 7-0.

The Bobcats finally took a lead in the fourth quarter, but the Lakers got it back and held on.

Kadesha Gibbs led Georgia College with 14 points while Lindsey Reed added 10. Mckenna Rushton had 13 rebounds.

Georgia College hosts Armstrong Atlantic at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
