Georgia Southern makes football assistant hires

Georgia Southern head football coach Tyson Summers announced Wednesday his initial coaching staff, pending approval.

The on-field coaching staff will include Pat Bastien, Lorenzo "Zo" Costantini, David Dean, Chris Foster, Rance Gillespie, Jimmy Lindsey, Chad Lunsford, Allen Mogridge and Jeremy Rowell. Summers also announced the hiring of Travis Taylor, Steve Dennis and Tredell Dorsey to his staff, as well.

Dean leaves Valdosta State, where he was head coach, to serve as co-offensive coordinator with Gillespie, who spent the past six seasons as Valdosta High School's head coach. Gillespie was the head coach at Peach County from 2001-06.

Costantini, formerly the defensive line coach at Central Florida, will be the defensive coordinator, while Lunsford will be the special teams coordinator.

Dennis, formerly the athletics director at Troy, is a Macon native.
