Fort Valley State gets first win under Bartley

Fort Valley State beat Augusta 69-55 on Tuesday to give head coach Lonnie Bartley his first win since coming out of retirement to coach the Wildcats women.

Shereba Montgomery and Katice Williams had double-doubles, teaming for 25 points and 26 rebounds.

Jayme Gilbert had 17 points for the Wildcats.

Bartley retired after the 2012-13 season and was succeeded by Erica Henry, who was his assistant for a season and went to Grambling State before coming back as FVSU's interim women's head coach in August of 2013. She resigned after two seasons and a 22-35 record to be an assistant coach at Prairie View A&M.

FVSU (1-4) hosts Benedict on Monday.
