Houston County students fare well in state Special Olympics games
More than a dozen Houston County students won state awards in football and long distance running at the Special Olympics Georgia State Summer Games last month.
Members of the gold-medal football team: Christian Foster, Josiah Grimes, Jabryil Holmes, Valik’e Jordan, Geoffrey Rose, Marcayle Jones Partner, Buddy Parks Partner and Max Rigby Partner.
The track competitors won awards ranging from gold to fourth place.
Gold winners: Chanelle Anthony, 100 meters and running long jump; Kevin Akridge, Ashley Underhill and Ali Wilbanks, 50 meters
Malcolm Ruffin earned silver in the 50 meters and Rebecca French bronze in the 100 meters. Devin Fabian was fourth in the 100 meters and running long jump.
