Macon native, former NFL standout Julius Adams dies

Just days after the announcement that he had been selected for the Macon Sports Hall of Fame, Julius Adams died Thursday at 67.

A graduate of Ballard-Hudson, Adams played with New England for 16 years and was a Pro Bowl pick in 1980, as well as a member of the Patriots' first Super Bowl team in 1985.

He was a second-round draft pick in 1971 out of Texas Southern. His son Keith played for seven years in the NFL.

Julius Adams was an assistant football coach at Fort Valley State for several years.
