Bowling: Reggie Kirkland excels in Macon City Open

The 2015 USBC Macon City Open tournament has come and gone, and the big winner was Reggie Kirkland.

Kirkland captured three titles: handicap singles and both the all event handicap and scratch titles.

The doubles title went to Cheryl and Willie Thomas with a three-game handicap series of 1,376, besting the team of Dennis Bieker and Herb Overstreet by 12 pins. The handicap team title was secured by the Golden Aces, featuring members Tongala Blocker, Darryl Hill, Oscar Hugley and Tommy Scaggs.

GOLD CUP TEEN CHALLENGE

The results of this season's Gold Cup Teen Challenge in Warner Robins have been tabulated. Three local winners and their categories were:

Ages 6-12 boys: 111 average Ross Pankoski, 407 scratch and 647 handicap.

Ages 13-19 boys: 88 average Darius Moye, 653 scratch and 685 handicap

Ages 13-19 girls: 185 average NeCole Hilton, 641 scratch and 681 handicap.

MACON ACTION

Al Nunez (701) was hot in the Commercial Tenpin league. Wednesday produced a plethora of high scores: Travis Patterson (795/279 game), Sam McKee (732), Derek Leslie (72 1/289 game), Bayne Mallary (713), Doug Cox (705) and Bryan Wimberly (279 game). Pacing the Thursday bowlers were Johnnie Pryor (762/290 game), Charles Carter (287 game) and Calvin Hill (279 game). Other leaders were Robert Miller (699), Kevin Huffman (689) and Maeghan Hudson (580). Senior stars were Roger Harris (618), Charles Bagley (615) and Oscar Goings (610).

EVENTS UPDATE

The Middle Georgia USBC All Star tournament will be held Jan. 24 at the Warner Robins Gold Cup Bowling Center (9 a.m). and the Robins Lanes (1 p.m.).

The Middle Georgia USBC Ladies Championship will be held Jan. 30-31 at the Warner Robins Gold Cup Bowling Center.

The USBC Ladies Macon City tournament will be held Feb. 20-21 at the Macon Gold Cup Bowling Center. The entry fee is $20 per bowler, and the deadline to enter is Feb. 13.

The 35th annual Georgia state USBC WBA Queens and Senior Queens tournaments will be held Feb. 27-28 in Milledgeville. The entry fee is $55 per bowler for individual competition, and the deadline to enter is Feb. 5.Bowling scores
