Victor Wembanyama Seemingly Hit By An Egg Outside Spurs Hotel In New York

The New York Knicks humiliated the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.

The Spurs led by 27 points at halftime, and their lead ballooned to 29 points at one point, and they seemed primed to tie the series at two games apiece. Then, the Knicks did what they’ve been known to do over the past two postseasons: erase a 20-point lead like it’s nothing.

The Knicks systematically chipped away at the deficit to put OG Anunoby in position to sky for a game-winning tip in that instantly etched him in the hearts of Knicks fans forever. The Knicks won, 107-106, and can win their first championship in 53 years on Saturday night.

An all-time dopamine hit spread across all five boroughs. New Yorkers partied as if the Knicks had already won the Finals. It was beautiful, glorious, and unbelievable. And then, someone had to go and ruin it.

Several videos circulating online show Knicks fans - or people posing as Knicks fans, anyway - booing and screaming expletives at the Spurs as they arrived at their New York hotel after coming out on the losing end of the largest comeback in NBA Finals history. That was unbecoming, but it officially went too far when a flying egg pelted Victor Wembanyama, better known as Wemby, in the head.

“”If you’re throwing eggs at Victor Wembanyama - and [from] the other night, if you’re beating up people and threatening or doing anything to people wearing Spurs jerseys - just know that you are a disgrace,” ESPN’s Mike Greenberg said on “Get Up” on Thursday morning. “You’re not disgracing the city, you’re disgracing yourself and everyone who knows you. And that should go without saying.”

As Greenberg alluded to, New Yorkers were caught on video harassing Spurs fans after San Antonio won Game 3 at Madison Square Garden on Monday night. After those incidents, Wembanyama condemned the violence.

“Fans got attacked? Hm, I didn’t know that,” Wembanyama said Tuesday. “But my thoughts, of course, is that, I mean, we can’t forget it’s a game. We’re just playing a game out there. And I am all for passion, but to the respect of each other. It’s unacceptable.”
