Heat Projected to Land Top-10 Talent at No. 13 in NBA Draft
The 2026 NBA draft is on the way, and the Miami Heat are already being projected to lap up an impressive player who’s a top-10 selection at No. 13.
In a mock draft released on Wednesday, May 20, Isaac Trotter of CBS Sports offers up his picks after the Combine. “Beyond the measurements and testing, the conversations behind the scenes provide an illuminating look at where some of the top NBA Draft prospects are trending,” he states in the mock.
For the Heat, he has them taking Arizona guard Brayden Burries with their No. 13 selection and calls him a top-10-worthy player.

“If this is how the draft board shakes out, Miami would continue its pattern of just scooping up the best player available who somehow slips into its range. This time, it’s Burries.”
He adds: “The potential top-10 pick has plus positional size, and he can play drive-and-kick basketball as well as any guard in this range. Burries’ motor is revving at all times. He plays hard every single game, and he sticks his face in the fan on the glass without fail.”

Burries can play a lot of different roles, but he’s probably best as a fast-break scorer. He brings defense, some shot creation, scoring at all levels and, perhaps the best part, a lot of hustle. There’s a lot to like about this player. If he’s available at No. 13, the Heat should consider themselves lucky and lap him up.
