Georgia Football Makes Cross-Country Visit for Nation's No. 2 DL

The Georgia Bulldogs are hard at work recruiting class of 2027 defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou. At 6-foot-7, 275 pounds, he is a five-star recruit, the No. 2 defensive lineman and the No. 27 player in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings.

The pass rusher has already made his way to Athens for one unofficial visit and has an official visit with Georgia scheduled for June 19. Fakatou previously told Rivals' Greg Biggins that the Bulldogs are the No. 3 team in his recruitment.

Leading the way is the Ohio State Buckeyes, with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in second. The Texas Longhorns and Oregon Ducks are also in the mix.

Georgia has already gotten out to a strong start in the 2027 recruiting class. Kirby Smart and his staff have landed six commitments, ranking fifth in the SEC and 12th nationally, according to Rivals.

They continue to push for Fakatou. In an X post on Tuesday, the defensive lineman revealed that the Bulldogs' defensive line coach, Tray Scott, made his way to Chatsworth, California, to attend Fakatou's practice at Sierra Canyon High School.

"Thank you @TravionScott for the visit today at practice this morning!" he wrote. "Appreciate you! #GoDawgs #TzzzUP @GeorgiaFootball @KirbySmartUGA."

The pass rusher is coming off an impressive 2025-26 season, recording 69 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and seven sacks. He earned first-team honors on the MaxPreps Sophomore All-America Team.

With Fakatou evaluating his options, upcoming official visits will be key in a commitment decision. Along with Georgia, he has OVs scheduled with Ohio State (May 29), Texas (June 5), Oregon (June 12) and Notre Dame (June 15).

Having Scott make his way to Chatsworth, though, shows the Bulldogs are making Fakatou a top priority.
