Ravens All-Pro Doesn't Get Why People Care About Mike Vrabel-Dianna Russini

Remember when Mike Vrabel was just the head coach of the New England Patriots and Dianna Russini was The Athletic’s senior NFL insider? Me either.

It’s only been a little over a month since Page Six published photos showing Russini and Vrabel hugging and hanging out poolside at an adults-only resort in Sedona, Arizona. But the past month felt like a lifetime, what with the endless new - and by “new,” we mean from six years ago but new to the public - scandalous photos and videos published by Page Six and TMZ.

Baltimore Ravens All-Pro cornerback Marlon Humphrey doesn’t get all the hoopla.

“I really don't understand why this app is so interested with Vrabel cheating,” Humphrey posted on X. “It's a lot going on for sure but who cares lol.”

Neither Vrabel nor Russini has admitted to having an affair or publicly addressed the nature of their relationship at all. Russini has been married to Kevin Goldschmidt since 2020, and they share two young sons. Vrabel has been married to Jen Vrabel since 1999, and they share two adult sons.

Russini has not made any public comment since announcing her resignation from The Athletic on April 14. In her resignation letter, Russini defended her professionalism and denied any inappropriate behavior. She covered the NFL at ESPN for eight years before joining The Athletic in late 2023.

Vrabel held two press conferences the following week, but he only vaguely took accountability for “actions that caused a distraction” and did not specify those actions. He skipped out on Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft on April 25, having told ESPN’s Mike Reiss that he had “committed to seeking counseling.” Vrabel was back with the Patriots the following Monday, April 27.

Vrabel is the reigning Coach of the Year after his first season in New England. The Patriots lost to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX in February. Vrabel’s players, including quarterback Drake Maye and cornerback Christian Gonzalez, have publicly voiced their support.

Humphrey, meanwhile, may want to stay off the internet this week. The NFL is planning its official schedule release for Thursday, and NFL teams will likely have a field day taunting Vrabel in their schedule-release videos.
