Indiana Fever Star Sophie Cunningham Announces Career News on Wednesday
Sophie Cunningham is set to begin her eighth WNBA season in 2026 as the Indiana Fever open up against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings on Saturday afternoon. Cunningham will also be entering her second year with Indiana after spending her first six with the Phoenix Mercury, resigning with the Fever on a one-year, $665,000 deal.
Despite missing the end of the 2025 WNBA regular season, along with the playoffs, due to an MCL tear, Cunningham was able to play in all three of the Fever's preseason games, starting in each. The former Missouri guard averaged 10.7 points on 50.0% shooting, 1.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 20.0 minutes per game.
Since being traded to the Fever ahead of the 2025 WNBA season, Cunningham has seen her popularity skyrocket while playing alongside Caitlin Clark. In addition to her success on the court, she has built an impressive portfolio off it, partnering with brands such as Adidas, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit and Quest Nutrition, among others. Cunningham also recently launched her own podcast, "Show Me Something," alongside co-host West Wilson.
But Cunningham was not done there. On Wednesday, just three days before the Fever's season opener against the Wings, she announced her latest partnership with European Wax Center. Joining her in partnering with one of the largest hair removal chains in the United States is new Indiana teammate forward Monique Billings.
"When I walk into a game, and everything just feels right, what got me there is all the behind-the-scenes that no one ever gets to see," Cunningham said. "And that's what some people need in the world, just a little bit of confidence…and European Wax Center definitely gets that. They do such a good job of making me feel comfortable and educated. When you have people who actually know what they're doing, it's really not that painful at all."
Cunningham revealed the news with a post on Instagram, which included a lengthy video on why she chooses European Wax Center.
"look good, feel good, play good," Cunningham wrote. "@europeanwax helping me to feel amazing so I am confident in every situation life throws at me"
Cunningham and the Fever will face the Wings at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
