Macon’s Stratford Academy boys soccer falls short of state championship title

The Stratford Academy Eagles fell short of the boys soccer state championship title Wednesday despite gaining momentum in the second half of the game.

The Stratford boys team fell to St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School, from Columbus, 2-1 in the Georgia Independent Athletic Association AAAA State Championship. Even though the championship round did not have a “home team,” the game was held at Stratford Academy and brought out a large group of Stratford supporters.

Freshman James Biesterfeld scored Stratford’s lone goal in the second half, with freshman Peyton McCallum on the assist.

The St. Anne-Pacelli goals were scored by Joseph Calvert and Jack Dalelio. Both assists came from Cole Butera.

The Stratford Academy Eagles finished their season 16-5 overall.
