Pizza restaurant plans to open a second location in Macon. Here’s what we know.
If you are a fan of Fatty’s Pizza in downtown Macon, you will soon have another location to grab a pie.
Fatty’s Pizza will be opening a second location in Macon on Tom Hill Senior Boulevard where Little Caesars Pizza used to operate. The restaurant, currently at 344 Second St., posted a photo to their Facebook page with the new location.
Owner Chrissy Lee said that they have been looking to expand for almost two years and the right opportunity finally came along with the location on Tom Hill. Part of the push to expand has come from customers clamoring for them to add locations outside of downtown through reviews on Google and Facebook.
“It is pretty exciting to have people want you to be there,” Lee said. “We really wanted to look at a location where we could accommodate larger orders and just expand our brand. We were just listening to our customers.”
Lee said they plan to make the new location as close to the one downtown as possible with similar decor such as the exposed brick. They also want people to have a similar experience at the new location with good pizza and good customer service. The expansion has been exciting but has moved at a quick pace, Lee said.
“It is scary to get out of your comfort zone,” Lee said. “We want to bring that downtown feel to other locations and other spaces in Macon.”
The opening date has not been set but the hope is currently to have pizzas coming out of the new location in about six weeks. The Fatty’s Pizza downtown has around 20 employees and Lee expects the new location to have around the same number or more.
Those who are interested in working at the new location are encouraged to come to the original location or to their other restaurant, Parrish on Cherry Street. They also plan to post on their Facebook page for people to apply if they can’t make it down to meet in person.
Lee said that they hope that those who haven’t had the chance to try their downtown location will be able to go out to the new spot.
“We put a lot of love and pride into our pizza,” Lee said. “We can win them over with not just great pizza but also happy employees who want to take care of them. We are just so excited.
