Third time’s the charm: Bar and grill opening 2nd location in this downtown Macon spot

In the past year, the restaurant on the corner of Cherry and Second streets has gone from a Greek bar and grill to a comedy club to a new restaurant that plans to open soon.

The second Overtyme Bar and Grill in Macon plans to open at 396 Second St. on Nov. 8, said Todd Miles, of Miles Enterprise and one of the owners of the restaurant.

Miles Enterprises partnered with the 360 Automotive Group, the owners of Overtyme Bar and Grill on Pio Nono Avenue, to open another restaurant in downtown Macon, Miles said.

“The other Overtyme has been very successful,” he said. “We’re hoping to bring this one here to kind of diversify the crowd. We want it to be for everybody, not for just one culture.”

Miles said they will have the exact same menu as the Overtyme Bar and Grill on Pio Nono Avenue, which includes fish, hot wings, quesadillas and other items.

“We’re just bringing a diversity of food, and we are a sports bar,” he said. “There’s not another sports bar down here, so to speak.”

They plan to have 100 beers on tap and will screen multiple sport events for customers. In addition to televisions placed on the walls around the restaurant, they will have a multi-screen display that will consist of eight televisions playing as one television, he said.

Miles said they will also have a daiquiri bar in the back of the restaurant as well as outside seating.

When Miles bought the building in Sept. 2018, there were around 80 health code violations that had to be fixed before opening to the public, he said. They’ve been working on repairs and fixes since then to bring the restaurant up to code.

“We just hope to provide an environment that’s friendly and enjoyable and everybody has a good time,” Miles said.
