Here are ways to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Middle Georgia

Monday is the federal holiday to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. and his impact on the nation.

In Middle Georgia, the weekend of Martin Luther King Jr. Day is filled with activities hosted by different organizations, cities and counties, such as Bibb County, Mercer University and Dublin.

Local governments will be closed for the holiday, including Macon-Bibb County, Houston County and Monroe County.

Here is a list of events to honor Martin Luther King, Jr.

  • MLK Celebration: Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Warner Robins, 10 a.m.

  • MLK Memorial March at Mercer: Mercer University, 11 a.m.

  • MLK Memorial March on the Northside: Booker T. Washington Center, Monroe Street, Macon, 11 a.m.

  • MLK Memorial March on the Southside: Memorial Gym, 763 Long Street, Macon, 11 a.m.

  • MLK Memorial March on the Westside: Frank Johnson Recreation Center, 2227 Mercer University Drive, Macon, 11 a.m.

  • MLK Memorial March on the Eastside: Rosa Jackson Recreation Center, 1211 Maynard Street, Macon, 11 a.m.

  • MLK March Greetings: Macon-Bibb County Government Center, 700 Poplar St., Macon, noon

Tuesday

Macon-Bibb County and the surrounding counties’ government offices will be closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
