What to do on New Year’s Eve in Middle Georgia: Buzzard drop, Gatsby parties, more

2020 is almost here and there are multiple events happening in the Middle Georgia area to help ring in a new decade.

Ball drops, beat drops and dance parties are just a few of the celebrations happening Dec. 31.

Here is a list of events happening to commemorate the new year in Middle Georgia.

The Perry Buzzard Drop

What: There will be food, a DJ and live music from the party band RELAPSE. For families who don’t want to miss bedtime will be a “kiddie countdown” at 8 p.m.

When: 7 p.m. — midnight

Where: Downtown Perry

Shamrock Drop

What: At 6 p.m. The Goonies Family Experience at Martin Movie House will start followed by The Great Gatsby Roaring 20’s Experience at 8:30 p.m. At the same time music from a live DJ will start in Bicentennial Plaza before the night is capped by a large, lighted shamrock dropping from the Fred Roberts building when the countdown hits zero.

When: 6 p.m. — midnight

Where: Downtown Dublin

Forsythia Ball Drop

What: The City of Forsyth’s fire department will be dropping the ball as those in attendance give them the countdown. There will be music from The Conquest Band and dinner specials at local restaurants.

When: 9 p.m. — midnight

Where: Downtown Forsyth

Fort Valley’s New Year Eve’s Peach Cobbler Drop

What: There will be something for the whole family with free peach cobbler, carriage rides, ice slides and train rides as well as music from DJ Tremayne.

When: 8 p.m. — midnight

Where: Downtown Fort Valley

New Year’s Eve Formal Masked Ball at The Hay House

What: A black tie and mask event to ring in the new year with cocktails and a midnight breakfast with champagne. The cost for the event is $125.

When: 9 p.m.

Where: Hay House at 934 Georgia Ave.

NYE Silent Disco

What: Free entry for those over 21. Headsets are $10 for those looking to dance to the tunes. There will be free snacks and $1 champagne from 11 p.m. to midnight.

When: 9 p.m. — 1 a.m.

Where: Reboot Retrocade and Bar at 566 Cherry St.

A Great Gatsby New Year’s Eve at Late Nite

What: Break out your best tuxedo or flapper dress for this party with free champagne and some art deco decor to feel like a real Gatsby party.

When: 8 p.m. — 2 a.m.

Where: Late Nite at 420 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Crazy Bull New Year’s Eve Blowout

What: Check out some live music from A2Z at the main stage or head outside for a concert under the heated tent by Gannon Adams.

When: 8 p.m. — 2 a.m.

Where: Crazy Bull at 473 2nd St.

Roaring 20’s New Year’s Eve Party at Just Tap’d

What: Ring in the new year with Just Tap’d’s annual balloon drop and celebrate in “Great Gatsby” attire. Drink specials include $4 champagne.

When: 6 p.m. — midnight

Where: Just Tap’d at 488 1st St.

Kids New Year’s Eve Dance Party

What: Even if the kids can’t stay up until midnight, they can still celebrate the new year with a dance party and kid-friendly drink specials. There will be party hats, tiaras and a photo booth.

When: 5 p.m. — 8 p.m.

Where: The Society Garden at 2389 Ingleside Ave.

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

What: If you don’t have kids or can get them into bed early, Society Garden is also hosting an adult event with a $10 cover. There will be drink specials and a DJ.

When: 9 p.m. — 1 a.m.

Where:The Society Garden at 2389 Ingleside Ave.

New Year’s Eve Family Celebration

What: There will be a free balloon drop at noon to let the kids celebrate the next decade. $24.95 for unlimited mini-golf, laser tag, bowling and skating.

When: 11 a.m. — 10 p.m.

Where: Rigby’s Entertainment Complex at 2001 Karl Dr., Warner Robins

New Year’s Eve Bash

What: It is an adults-only event with a Midnight Peach Drop on The Patio. There will be a champagne toast and a good luck buffet. No cover and $24.95 for unlimited mini-golf, laser tag, bowling and skating.

When: 8 p.m. — 1 a.m. (The Patio); 10 p.m. — 1 a.m. (Complex)

Where: Rigby’s Entertainment Complex at 2001 Karl Dr., Warner Robins

NYE Bash at Macon Beer Company Taproom & Kitchen with Southbound Mojo

What: It is a concert with Southbound Mojo with drink specials that include $4 shots and $5 frozen slushees. There will be a breakfast buffet after the ball drops for $6 per person.

When: 10 p.m.

Where: Macon Beer Company Taproom & Kitchen at 458 Second St.
