Your Say: Changes to traditional roles in the new world of gender fluidity
While most American Christians still believe they are simply swimming in a sea of uncomfortably warm water, an increasing number have begun to realize that the water has begun to boil and they and their families are starting to get burned. And to illustrate that rather awkward metaphor, allow me to highlight some of the transformational changes taking place or about to take place in America since the legalization of same-sex marriage and during the current push by the far-left toward "gender fluidity."
1. The historical institution of the military chaplaincy is on death watch. Soon chaplains who believe in natural marriage will be ordered to either agree to counsel and marry same-sex couples or resign. As they do, they will likely be replaced with secular "counselors." No longer will the loved ones of a young soldier far from home be comforted by the idea of a military chaplain praying or sharing Bible passages with their brave warrior. In all branches of the military, American enlistees will be without the religious support of traditional chaplains as they fight for our country.
2. Sex ed programs in public schools are and will be rapidly revamped to explain to children the biological details of heterosexuality, homosexuality, bi-sexuality and trans-gender sexuality since they are all now legally equivalent. Books such as "Billy Has two Mommies" and "Mary's Mommy Became Mary's Daddy" will now be freely read to young children to normalize same-sex marriage and gender transition regardless of the parents' religious views. Children will eventually be taught that there are not two genders, but at least six, maybe more. (A recent news article told of the rising distress of parents in Canada because their elementary-age children are being taught there are six genders.)
3. Eventually, the terms "Mom" and "Dad" and "husband" and "wife" will be phased out of American legal documents, news stories and entertainment venues as the hodgepodge of biologically related and biologically nonrelated people now being legally allowed to parent children is further and further expanded. Examples:
Already, the terms "parent one" and "parent two" have been approved to replace the words "mother" and "father" in children's passports.
The traditionally family-friendly franchise of Target stores has officially discontinued designating children's bedding as "his" and "hers" because those words are considered too "gender-stereotypical."
You can now register for Facebook using any one of 50-plus different "gender options" for users who don't identify as male or female. Don't believe me? Google it.
4. It is not just Christian marriage vendors who are being forced by the courts and the government to cater gay marriage ceremonies. Now, employees of most of the big corporations in America — Coca-Cola, Ford, Wells Fargo — too many to name — can be reprimanded, demoted, or even fired for speaking of their belief in traditional marriage in the workplace, or even out of it. Atlanta's fire Chief Kelvin Cochran was recently fired for writing a men's devotional book for his church in which he endorsed the traditional Biblical views on sexuality.
It is too easy to blame America's rapid deterioration of traditional morality and the escalating loss of religious freedom on the small percentage of gay activists who tirelessly lobby for a country to their liking. Spiritually, an anemic, politically correct American church has buried itself in humanitarian good works and refused to be a robust advocate for retaining Judeo-Christian values in our society. Politically, the Democratic Party, led by President Barack Obama, has explicitly or implicitly championed every current or coming change in American society detailed in this letter.
So make no mistake. Every vote for a Democrat literally furthers the radical social agenda vigorously approved of and promoted by the leaders of this political party. And to those voters who didn't realize what a vote for a Democrat fully means — well, now you do.
