No argument
The commanding general of our organization on base just recently circulated a memo reminding us of our responsibility and the importance of security awareness and vigilance. Someone in the office came up with the perfect quote of the day: "Until HRC (Hillary Rodham Clinton) is frog marched into jail in an orange jumpsuit there is no way in he## I can take this (security) seriously." It was hard for me to argue.

Not an Ellis supporter
I read with disgust on Wednesday's front page where C. Jack Ellis is trying, once again, to get into a Macon-Bibb County government office, i.e., as the tax commissioner. Just look back at when he was the mayor of Macon, and this should cause anyone to not vote for him. Ellis almost bankrupted the city with his frivolous trips that did not prosper Macon, out-of-state management meetings that were uncalled for and rumored to have used government money for personal use.
Also, he is a race baiter, trying to cause dissension with people of all nationalities within Macon-Bibb County. This is my perception of C. Jack, and am disgusted to see him as a fellow veteran. Wade McCord has done an absolutely flawless job as the assistant, moved in when the former tax commissioner retired and has continuing to run a tight ship as interim tax commissioner.
If people would consider C. Jack's past record and Wade's record, they would definitely cast their vote for Wade McCord, the right vote and the right person for the office of tax commissioner. Just my opinion.

Dereliction of duty
The press (media) is the only industry written into the U.S. Constitution. It was included because the Founding Fathers believed a free press could act as a watchdog on government and report to the citizenry any malicious or suspect behavior by elected officials. Shamefully, today's media only selectively reports the goings on in Washington, D.C.
Here are a few samples:
Have you heard the Democratic National Committee is funded by Hillary Clinton's campaign and their influence is causing such serious problems the chairperson is being urged to resign?
Have you seen the press explain that if we enforced current gun laws the real problems with guns would disappear overnight?
Have you wondered why Bill Cosby is being lynched in the news and Bill Clinton, who performed the identical act, is not?
Not one word from ABC, CBS or NBC about the dozens of women assaulted and raped on New Year's Eve throughout Germany by the Islamic refugees they welcomed into their country. Are you aware this is predicted to happen in the U.S?
Why is the press selective on these and other serious issues? Why are we only hearing one side of a story, if we even hear about it at all? It's a problem easily solved. The media relies, exclusively, on us believing they are thorough and honest about the situations they report. Take away that belief, as Donald Trump is doing, and they are exposed as lapdogs instead of watchdogs.
Oh, and one more thing. Why are the comments sections disappearing from online sites?

Eliminating mosquitoes
Zika ignores the term "VEctor control," which refers to all means by which diseases are transmitted. Since certain strains of mosquitoes have been identified as carrier of the Zika virus, vector control recommends eliminating mosquito reproduction. The American Mosquito Control Association tells us that:
"The mosquito goes through four separate and distinct stages of its life cycle: egg, larva, pupa and adult. Each of these stages can be easily recognized by its special appearance. Eggs are laid one at a time or attached together to form "rafts." They float on the surface of the water."
Mosquitoes have been known to lay their eggs in a junked tire leaning against the outside wall of a house. Get rid of it.
If there is no standing/stagnant water, the egg of a mosquito can't develop into a mature flying insect. It won't be available to transmit any disease. And I won't get bit.
