Caring people
On Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 16, my wife and I were preparing to depart the Wal-Mart Super Center on Watson Boulevard in Warner Robins. The rain was coming down very heavily, and I told my wife to wait at the front door. I would get the truck and keep her from getting soaked.
The yellow lip on the curb was wet, and when I stepped out to step down to the pavement my feet came out from under me. I fell so fast I couldn't, regain my balance.
It seemed that before I was completely stopped from falling, there were people there telling me to lie still, 911 had been contacted.
I told them my wife was waiting inside the door. Someone got her and by the time they had her with me, there were 10 to 15 people with umbrellas.
They helped me up and helped me inside the store to prevent shock from setting in. Wal-Mart management got a fire blanket and covered me with it.
EMS arrived and I was transported to Houston Health Care Emergency Room, where I was diagnosed with a broken left shoulder.
The actions of those people -- black, white, hispanic, and Asian -- proved to me the values we have as human beings for our fellow man has not died nor is it dead,
God bless each one and thank you for caring.
